TaxAssist Accountants - We can do more for you

In 2024, The TaxAssist Group unveiled a new look series of brands to highlight that it can advise and support clients with much more than accountancy and tax services.

Franchisee mentoring

All franchisees benefit from on site and virtual business development visits and calls from a Franchise Development Manager and Support Centre staff.

New franchisees will have at least six visits over their first year either face-to-face or virtually, providing business development, general management and business planning advice and support to help to launch and grow their practice.

Our accountants receive a business development visit each year from then on, with the main focus on building the business, profitability, and ultimately helping our accountants to achieve their ambitions.

The team includes a former TaxAssist franchisee who shares his hands-on insight into best practice for running a practice.

Meet the Mentors - Franchise Development Manager - Terry Peachman

Terry joined TaxAssist Accountants as a franchisee in 2002 and built up a substantial and successful multi office practice in Lincoln before successfully exiting the franchise in August 2022.

He became a regional Franchise Development Manager for TaxAssist Accountants in February 2023 and draws on his 20 years 'real life' experience to share his knowledge and expertise to mentor franchisees to maximise the potential of their practices, to build income and value.

Terry also has experience as a Commercial Banking Manager with time spent in both corporate finance and working with SME businesses, followed by a short period as the Marketing and Business Development Manager for a multi office regional firm of Chartered Certified Accountants. He was accredited by the British Accreditation Bureau as a generalist business consultant.

Meet the TaxAssist mentors - Franchise Development Manager - David Spurrier

David joined TaxAssist Accountants in 2023 as a full-time Franchise Development Manager supporting franchisees out in the field across England and Wales.

He has a strong background, initially working for the police force before transitioning to a new career in business and subsequently franchising. His experience includes running and selling two highly successful businesses, one with a 1 million+ turnover which he built up from scratch before being asked to return as a consultant. He has also received extensive training in the US on successful business development techniques by The Dwyer Group, a leading master franchisor.

David is responsible for supporting franchisees to ensure they are following the franchise system and planning ahead for their success.

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Hannah Campbell

Hannah Campbell joined TaxAssist Accountants in 2014 when she was 24. She has had an inspiring journey working her way up from Assistant Practice Manager to 100% shareholder and franchisee in 2023.

With aspirations to reach £1 million turnover in the short term, Hannah shares the many benefits of being a part of a franchise network and how the support on offer has propelled her business to huge success.

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Tej Gawera

Tej Gawera joined TaxAssist Accountants in 2011 and runs two shops in Leicester East and Syston along with his seven members of staff.

We caught up with Tej at the new TaxAssist brand launch event at Silverstone in March 2024 where he discussed his success as a TaxAssist Accountant. He covers how he enjoys being part of a supportive network, having a model to follow, the technical, marketing and mentoring support available and the sharing of best practice.

He sees the brand refresh as a very positive move, which will increase TaxAssist's standing in the accountancy market and therefore the value of the network's practices. He feels it will make recruiting staff easier as TaxAssist will look like a bigger player in the market, alongside our one stop shop brand and new strapline - we can do more for you - helping to attract larger clients.

With new technology, regulations and digital innovations bringing changes at an ever faster rate, it's getting harder for the small independent to keep up to date and ahead of the game. This is where Tej feels TaxAssist comes into it's own - perfectly positioned to handle what the future will throw at us.

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Kully Sahota

Kully Sahota has built a substantial practice in the West Midlands operating from two shops and five serviced office locations. He purchased a neighbouring franchise territory when the franchisee retired and is always looking for new opportunities to grow.

Enthusiastic about the new look TaxAssist brand, and of the benefits the technical, marketing and in field support provides, Kully has embraced everything that TaxAssist offers to maximise growth.

When asked if he'd join TaxAssist Accountants if he had his time again? - "100%, I wish I'd done it sooner."

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Mike Stead

Mike Stead had a successful 35 year corporate career before retiring. He was tempted back to work by the opportunity he saw when he purchased TaxAssist Accountants Rugby in 2022. With a strong belief in the brand - what it does and how it works - he describes TaxAssist as a 'breath of fresh air'.

After moving to a shop front he describes the results as 'fantastic' and is hugely supportive of all that the franchise provides.

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Jaz Grewal

Jaz Grewal joined the TaxAssist network in February 2022 at 25 years of age and operates from a shop in Leicester Knighton.

As an ambitious accountant, Jaz joined TaxAssist Accountants keen to utilise the support and services available to grow his practice as much as possible and to increase it's value.

Jaz is hugely supportive of the new brand design and an advocate for the TaxAssist franchise opportunity both personally and financially.

TaxAssist case study - franchisee Bukky Shonola

Bukky Shonola joined the TaxAssist Accountants network after purchasing a franchise resale in Letchworth in April 2018. She now operates from shops in Letchworth and Hitchin and an office in Biggleswade.

Bukky is an ambitious accountant and loves that TaxAssist is a vision driven network, alongside its strong family and community feel. Passionate about first class customer service and the relationship she's able to build up with her clients, she's thrilled with the newly launched TaxAssist brand and excited for the future.

Why Syed Hussain Chose to Convert his Practice to TaxAssist Accountants

When Syed Hussain FCCA joined TaxAssist Accountants in March 2025, he brought with him an existing client base of 100 and a determination to accelerate the growth of his practice. Months on, he's already seeing the benefits of being part of the network — and has his sights set on opening a shop in his territory in East Croydon.

Why Start a Practice with TaxAssist Accountants?

FCCA-qualified Raza Syed joined TaxAssist Accountants in 2019 and has built a highly successful practice in Southall with 385 clients and £500,000 in turnover.

"I've invested in starting a new business, opened a shop and have a growing client portfolio. Without TaxAssist, this would never have been possible. My friends and relatives who share the same profession and who have seen me grow as an individual, are already enquiring about TaxAssist and I have been extremely excited to tell them my story. In fact my cousin, Syed Hussain, joined the franchise in 2025 keen to emulate my success by converting his existing practice to TaxAssist Accountants." - Raza Syed.
